Established in 2011, EthSwitch S.C. is a pioneering share company owned by all banks (private and public), the National Bank of Ethiopia, Microfinance Institutions (MFIs), Payment Instrument Issuers (PIIs), and Payment System Operators (PSOs). As Ethiopia’s National Switch, EthSwitch is dedicated to providing simple, affordable, secure, and efficient e-payment infrastructure services to retail payment service providers and, through them, to end users across the country. Leveraging state-of-the-art technology and a team of highly skilled professionals, EthSwitch is at the forefront of modernizing Ethiopia’s national payments system and enhancing financial inclusion.

Key Achievements
Since 2016, EthSwitch has achieved significant milestones, including the interoperability of ATMs and POS terminals operated by all banks in Ethiopia. Currently, EthSwitch is expanding its projects to achieve interoperability across other digital payment platforms operated by all financial service providers.
Mandate and Services
